About

About me

We are more than our résumés and portfolios. We are more than our grades and degrees. There are things that intrigue us, questions we keep returning to, and passions that shape how we see the world. This page is a little more about the person behind the work: what I care about, what I’m still learning, and what keeps me curious.

Interests

Problem solving

I like the moment when a messy problem starts to reveal its shape. Programming gives that process somewhere to go: names, boundaries, tests, tools, interfaces, and eventually something that works. The code matters, but so does the thinking that gets you there.

The Four Fs of Code

Practical guidance to developing systems.

Stories, humor, and meaning

I like stories that know what they are doing, especially when they mix comedy with sincerity or spectacle with real emotional weight. Movies and humor both depend on timing, structure, surprise, and restraint. A good movie scene and a good joke have a lot in common. Both depend on setup, timing, contrast, and the tiny details that make the payoff work.

People and incentives

Its interesting how people choose. There are incentives, fears, habits, and ego driving what we do. Economics and psychology both remind me that real systems have real people in them. History is full of us shaping people to fit our institutions. But how can we shape systems to better serve people?

Play and interactive systems

Video games and LEGO are good reminders that constraints can be creative instead of limiting. There is a system, there are rules, and somewhere inside those rules is a little bit of freedom. Play is one of the best ways to learn at all ages.
